At Hollicombe Beach on 5th of June
They said there would be rain
and blowing wind all day
yet just an opening in the sky
by the sound of three large cranes.

Bowing to the six directions, a
dialogue with the rocks, shared breath and smiles
with Roy, thanks to the ocean
and the grey puffed sky.

A celebration,
a joyful exchange of presence
in movement while the beach was being
refurbished with new large stones
to support the crumbling cliffs.

CELEBRATION OF WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CEREMONIAL ARTS 5 June 2017
3:00 p.m. at Plaosan Lor Temple in Bugisan Village, Prambanan District, Central Java, Indonesia & Worldwide
POKDARWIS (tourism awareness group) Bugisan Village, Prambanan District; Hari Mulyatno and friends ISISurakarta;
Padepokan Lemah Putih; Central Java Province Archaeological Heritage Conservation Office; Children
Exploring Candi – Guyub Bocah; Web Art Garden; Dharma Nature Time; and Friends of Candi Teja Amerta
together with local artists and religious leaders will hold the first Celebration of World Environment Day
Ceremonial Arts on 5 June 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the vicinity of the Plaosan Lor Temple. Religious leaders will
offer prayers for nature and tree seedlings that will be distributed to the community.
This event will link to the network of Padepokan Lemah Putih; Web Art Garden; and Dharma Nature Time
colleagues around the world, who will offer ceremonial arts for the environment in their respective countries
on 5 June 2017 at 3:00 p.m. local time. We invite anyone in any place to plant trees, flowers, or vegetables
etc., water the seedlings and pray for God to give the nature fertility and harmony of life.
This idea stems from the concept of Samuan Tiga meeting among nine faith groups for harmony and creative
humanitarianism in 1011 in Bali, Indonesia; 5th June World Environment Day proclaimed by the United Nations in
1972 (launched in 1974); and the Assisi Declarations created at an interreligious meeting convened by World
Wildlife Fund in 1986 with prayers by various religions for the nature.
We believe that convening a Celebration of World Environment Day Ceremonial Arts at the Plaosan Lor Temple in
Bugisan Village every year on 5 June – linked with events held in other places throughout Indonesia and the world
– will play an important role in the conservation of biodiversity, harmony among religions and faiths, and raising
global awareness for the development of an environmentally friendly culture for the future.
